Today, 20 minutes before my 2nd class, I got the dreaded call every parent never wants to get. Will had smashed his finger in a cabinet door and there was quite a bit of blood and something, something about his nail... after that point everything kind of became a blur. Luckily I only go to school 15 +/- miles from home but let me just say, that was the l o n g e s t drive of my life. I was immediately on the phone with Jason, and the doctor's office and anyone else who would talk me through that drive. As soon as I walked in that door, Will was still pretty upset and I grabbed him up in my arms. I didn't even care about the finger right then, I just needed my boy to know I had him. His finger was banged up pretty good. He cut the nail, cut the back of his finger, and cut the top of his finger. After a brief (and calm!) contemplation, I decided this wasn't emergency room material or a trip to the doctor's office either. It just needed to be kept clean with some antibiotic ointment and maybe some pain meds if he is still uneasy. All of which we can do at home. 7 hours later, we've cut the loose skin off, bandaged him up with vet wrap found in daddy's truck, and given him lots of TLC. He's really doing great, he's snuggled up between us right now. The end of his finger is raw because the skin was cut off during the incident so I know it's tender but we will keep a good eye on it. And believe me, if anything starts to look suspicious, off to the doctor we'll go... they're on speed dial ;)

just saying hi!
Even with today's excitement, we made it on a great walk. I also got Will laughing at me as I completed a fairly rigorous (and funny) leg workout. This weather is amazing! Will loves being outside so I think that kind of pepped him up. We always walk or run down the farm lane, as I call it. It's the dead end, gravel, hilly lane that goes to the "old homeplace" on the McDaniel's century old farm. Just in case I haven't mentioned, we are a bit of a country lovin' family. Jason and I both grew up on farms and around livestock and it still runs in our blood. Horse and mules are kind of our thing!
